The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) is a dynamic Catholic school board committed to the delivery of quality educational programs and services from a Catholic faith perspective. DPCDSB, one of Ontario’s largest school boards in Ontario, is comprised of approximately 73,000 students enrolled in 151 schools (125 elementary and 26 secondary) throughout the diverse GTA municipalities of Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon, and Orangeville. DPCDSB employs approximately 8,000 faculty and staff to deliver and support its Catholic educational mission.

FLOATER CUSTODIAN

Contract/Full-Time Hours

$27.13 per hour (effective September 2024)

HOURS OF WORK

Applicants must be available to work all of the following shifts, Monday to Friday:

3:30pm-11:30pm

4:00pm-12:00am

5:00pm-1:00am

Full Flexibility is also required for calls to come in early or for day shifts

QUALIFICATIONS

A valid ‘G’ driver’s license and dependable vehicle (which will remain with you during your shift)

Must be able to travel to ALL schools within our geographic area (Mississauga, Brampton, Bolton, Caledon and Orangeville)

Completion/proof of grade 12 education

Past cleaning/custodial experience

Provide a safe, attractive and well maintained school by working with the other Custodial staff in order to maintain the care of the building and operation of the school’s physical plant. Custodial staff must comply with all Board Policies and Procedures and all Ministry and Government Regulations/Legislation.

Ensures outside doors and windows are secure and locked before leaving for the night. Elementary school doors are to remain locked at all times.

Checks to make sure premises are left clean and tidy when after-school activities are conducted

Services the needs of Community Use of Schools and permit groups as required

Reports malfunctions of heating and ventilating equipment to the Head Custodian and appropriate personnel

Removes debris and dangerous articles from the school grounds

Removes snow from entrances and walkways/ cuts grass and maintains gardens and shrubs

Applies salt-sand mixture on walks or play areas which are slippery

Maintain building and grounds by performing duties on a daily, weekly or seasonal basis. Above is a list of duties that are to be attended to regularly in addition to the general cleaning responsibilities. Other requests for assistance that are not on the list will occasionally be made. These are expected to be carried out in a timely manner with the assistance of the Head Custodian or Custodial Supervisor if necessary:

Applicants will be required to pass a written general proficiency test and physical testing in order to assess applicant’s ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.
