The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) is a dynamic Catholic school board committed to the delivery of quality educational programs and services from a Catholic faith perspective. DPCDSB, one of Ontario’s largest school boards in Ontario, is comprised of approximately 73,000 students enrolled in 151 schools (125 elementary and 26 secondary) throughout the diverse GTA municipalities of Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon, and Orangeville. DPCDSB employs approximately 8,000 faculty and staff to deliver and support its Catholic educational mission.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Supervisor: Library Support Services, the Secondary Library Technician is responsible for providing administrative, technical, reference services to support the library function in the school. Maintaining confidentiality is a requirement of this position.

Basic Qualifications:

The basic qualifications for this position include:

Diploma in Library and Information Technology from a recognized college.

Minimum 2 years in a relevant library setting in an educational or public service environment.

Experience with emerging cloud, e-learning, and collaboration technologies.

Proficient in the use of Board provided computer-based technologies to create, manipulate, store and retrieve information, and communicate with others

Proficient in the use of Board sanctioned computer-based technologies and electronic resources to create, manipulate, store and retrieve information, and communicate with others

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Excellent computer skills and familiarity Microsoft Office software applications

Must have access to a reliable vehicle and hold a valid Ontario driver’s license to travel to multiple board sitesFamiliarity with an Integrated Library System, preferably Symphony

Familiarity with online collaboration productivity tools.

Previous experience conducting training/coaching sessions preferred.
