Position: Custodial Services Training Program Teacher

Course codes: IDC4O, TCH4E

Start: As soon as possible

End: TBD / all classes are dependent upon student enrollment

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 1:30pm

Location: Operations, Maintenance and Admin Centre (OMAC)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Certificate/Interim Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario College of Teachers (in Good Standing)

• Teaching Experience in Technological Education

Desired:

• Formal Training and/or Experience in Teaching Adults in an Educational Setting

• Custodial Experience

• Current Health and Safety Certifications

Responsibilities:

In-school training November 12, 2024 to January 24, 2025 (Monday to Friday 5 hours per day, 5 days per week)

The instructor/coordinator is expected to deliver both the theoretical and practical components of the program

THEORY

• Deliver the Custodial Services Emphasis Course, Technological Education curriculum and the Custodial Services Training Curriculum with a focus on safety practices

• Provide appropriate assessments and evaluations pertaining to the curriculum

• Monitor students’ progress in the course and provide timely and descriptive feedback

PRACTICAL

• Coordinate program safety certifications and guest speakers

• Coordinate cooperative education placements for students registered in the program

Successful teacher should be qualified to teach in subject area. Secondary teachers will be offered a placement prior to consideration of applicants from the elementary or occasional teacher panels. All classes are dependent upon student enrollment.
