We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to support our solar facilities across North America. The ideal candidate will provide electrical engineering and Balance of Plant (BoP) support to a variety of Bulk Electric System (BES) solar facilities across North America. Your expertise and experience would be invaluable in ensuring accurate and thorough engineering support for power operations, contributing to the overall safety and reliability of our (BES) solar facilities.

What You Will Do:

  • Monitor and support the reliability of BoP systems, including transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and power cables, ensuring the safe and continuous operation of (BES) solar facilities.

  • Compile operational data and performance reports, including equipment status, maintenance logs, and compliance supporting data, while supporting Senior BoP Power Engineers and the reliability compliance team.

  • Collaborate with Senior BoP Power Engineers, Plant Managers, and Consultants to perform or review arc-flash assessments for wind and solar facilities in North America. The successful candidate must also be able to conduct in-house arc-flash assessments using tools such as EasyPower or ETAP.

  • Leverage predictive maintenance techniques (e.g., thermal imaging, condition monitoring) to anticipate potential failures and plan proactive maintenance to prevent issues before they arise.

  • Enhance expertise in power system protection by performing in-house BoP protection system operation assessments and issuing formal reports.

  • Develop your expertise by providing engineering support to assets installed across various jurisdictions, including WECC, SERC, TRE, NPCC, IESO, and AESO.

Who You Are:

  • You possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Required specialization: Electrical) and P.Eng. (Professional Engineer designation).

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience as an Electrical Engineer or Specialist supporting BoP activities with exposure to renewables.

  • Experience in reviewing and analyzing protection system design, including its operation and coordination activities.

  • Familiarity with applying CSA/IEEE/ANSI standards for low, medium and high voltage equipment, as well as NETA standards for testing activities.

  • Knowledge of EasyPower or ETAP is considered an asset.

  • Experience with BoP electrical components, such as switchgear and transformers, is required.
