Job Description:

12 MONTH CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY

Reporting directly to the Director HR Risk and Compliance Management, the Manager, HR Operational Risk, is responsible for managing HR privacy, model, and fraud risk programs within the HR function. The Manager will ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies, identify, and mitigate potential risks, and provide guidance and advice to HR stakeholders on privacy, model, and fraud risk matters.

What will you do?

  • Coordinate and facilitate HR’s risk and compliance management activities by tracking, recording, and reporting on fraud, model and privacy risk events, and remediation efforts

  • Contribute to operating guidelines or policies developed for privacy, fraud, and model risk management processes

  • Complete risk assessments for HR and support HR Teams in an advisory capacity, or as a subject-matter expert, on risks and controls

  • Conduct research and track key program metrics to develop recommendations and guidance for HR Stakeholders as applicable

  • Assess, validate, and support testing of applications in accordance with the organizations policies on model/non-models, and advanced analytics risk

  • Support HR Teams with activities that will enhance the way that they monitor, identify, and manage risks within their teams (activities may include testing)

  • Liaise with HR Teams and Policy owners on topics such as, fraud, model, and privacy risk to ensure HR’s compliance with related policies

  • Liaise with Enterprise Privacy and Privacy Officers across the enterprise to ensure alignment with Corporate HR’s approach to privacy statements in formal HR documentation (e.g., Offer Letters, Background Check Notifications)

  • Represent HR on Policy Committees to provide professional input and feedback on the direction of Policy requirements, ensuring HR’s interests are considered and appropriate actions are taken

What do you need to succeed?

  • An undergraduate degree in related field (e.g., Finance, Business)

  • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in regulatory compliance, operational risk, governance, or other relevant experience in the financial services industry

  • Previous experience with risk management and/or internal auditing is considered an asset

  • Knowledge of HR operations is considered an asset

  • Sound understanding of risk and control frameworks and the elements that must be considered to develop and manage the framework

  • This role will oversee the development and implementation of effective controls, processes, and procedures to enhance the HR operational risk framework in addition to coordinating risk management initiatives as it collaborates with leaders and subject mater experts in the first and second lines of defence.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
