Background:
Flemingdon Health Centre (FHC) is an engaged and involved member of some of Toronto’s most dynamic neighborhoods; Flemingdon Park, Fairview and Thorncliffe Park. FHC is a registered charity and an incorporated not-for-profit Community Health Centre (CHC), with a vision of Strong Healthy Communities. Across our three sites, we provide a range of health-related services based on the social determinants of health with extensive community engagement.

Position Summary:

At Flemingdon Health Centre (FHC), we are excited to offer a Accounting Canada Summer Student opportunity as part of the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program. This role provides youth with the chance to gain valuable, hands-on experience in the financial operations of a non-profit community healthcare organization.

You will work closely with our Finance and Administration team, supporting key accounting functions and learning about real-world financial processes in a supportive and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with data entry and maintenance of financial records
  • Help with accounts payable and receivable tracking
  • Support invoice processing and reconciliation
  • Assist in budget monitoring and financial reporting
  • Organize and digitize financial documents
  • Perform other administrative and finance-related duties as needed

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (ongoing or recently completed)
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute in a team setting
  • Respectful, adaptable, and compassionate approach to working with diverse communities
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools
  • Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Police Check

Eligibility – Canada Summer Jobs Criteria:

  • Must be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have official refugee status in Canada
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • International students are not eligible
