Location: Frontier Collegiate

Start Date: February 3, 2025

FTE: 1.00 FTE

Term of Employment: Term to June 27, 2025

Frontier Collegiate is a unique, well-equipped high school with dormitories located in Cranberry Portage, Manitoba. Frontier Collegiate offers a full range of Grade 9 to Grade 12 course offerings for approximately 250 students. Cranberry Portage is a scenic “cottage country” community of about 1,000 people located 50 km south of Flin Flon. Community services include a gas station, health centre with ambulance service, community recreation centre and arena and regular air service (Flin Flon & The Pas).

Subjects to be taught include exploration of welding technology, introduction to welding technology, metal design/fabrication & oxy-acetylene procedures, basic and advanced GMAW (MIG) and SMAW (ARC) procedures, advanced metal design/fabrication and applied specialties and qualifications.

Qualifications:

• Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification (Red Seal) Welder

• Technical Vocational Teacher Education Diploma (TVE) or in the process of obtaining

• Minimum 5 years industry experience as a Red Seal Welder Journeyperson

• Valid Class 5 Drivers License

• Knowledge of provincial welding technology curriculum would be an asset

• Experience in a teaching or training capacity would be an asset

• Strong classroom management skills

• Knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life

• Experience working in a Northern community would be considered an asset

• A team player committed to the belief that all students can learn

• Self-motivated
