ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION
Peace Collaborative Services (PCS) is a regional organization providing specialized educational support services across six Northwestern Alberta school jurisdictions. Grande Prairie Public School Division employs PCS staff on behalf of the jurisdictions in the region.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Peace Collaborative Services is seeking two Occupational Therapists to join our emerging multi-disciplinary school team. As the ideal candidate, you are energetic and enjoy working with children from Preschool through Grade 12. You will work collaboratively to integrate student programming with other disciplines such as Speech-Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Psychology and for students with visual and/or hearing impairment.
BEING PART OF OUR DYNAMIC TEAM, YOU WILL:
Help make a difference - Provide individual child services:
Develop intervention programs, conduct periodic re-assessment/evaluation of individual programs and recommend adjustments as needed
Provide direct treatment intervention to specific children
Instruct teachers, assistants, volunteers and parents in occupational therapy intervention techniques
Participate in case conferences, parent interviews, medical consultations and clinic programming
Research and provide consultation regarding adaptive equipment and technical aids
Take a leadership role - Oversee program services:
Supervise para-professional staff and provide programming input for Educational Assistants
Provide input into the direction and requirements of the Occupational Therapy program in various jurisdictions
Develop, implement and evaluate a quality assurance program
Provide input into annual operating and capital equipment budgets
Provide input into the development and implementation of group programs
Attend staff, department and other meetings as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
You work well independently and can show initiative
You are self-motivated, and an enthusiastic learner with excellent problem solving skills
Must be registered or eligible to be registered with ACOT and/or CAOT
Valid driver’s license (Travel required)
Provide Police Information Record Check and Child Intervention Record Check
Pediatric experience is an asset
