Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band 3, $24.844 to $29.142 (5 step range)
As a key member of the Medical Services team, collaborates with fellow administrative and physician team members to manage our Medical Services clinical operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Grade 12
- Office Education/Secretarial certificate plus completion of a Medical Terminology course (OR) Medical Office Assistant Certificate OR
- If no such applicant found, applicant with Office Education/Secretarial Certificate required to complete an approved Medical Terminology course, at their expense, through an approved educational institute within two (2) years of commencing the job.
Experience:
- One (1) year previous experience as a Clinic Assistant (OR)
- One (1) year previous experience in a health care environment performing administrative duties.
Skills:
- Ability to interpret detailed information and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Competent in the use of computers and Microsoft applications, including Microsoft Access database application.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of Electronic Medical Record systems, preferably including at least one of MedAccess, Accuro, or ARIA.
- Understanding of required medical terminology.
- Strong financial acumen in order to prepare and submit financial reports and billing submissions.
- Human relations skills required to empathize with complaints and/or concerns and establish rapport with patients, the public and other staff.
- Some judgment and problem solving skills are required to select the most appropriate action from a limited number of alternatives.
- Ability and willingness to work cooperatively and effectively with SCA staff members and/or external partners.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload.
- Creative ability in developing layouts for reports, presentations, information bulletins, etc.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in various stages of completion according to priorities.
- Ability to work independently.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
