Job Description: Reporting to a Public Health Inspector Supervisor, the Public Health Inspector is responsible for a comprehensive environmental health program in the community. Using a variety of professional and technical skills the public health inspector protects individual and community wellness through health promotion activities and enforcement of provincial acts and regulations as well as bylaws.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

As part of a multi-disciplinary health promotion team of professionals, the Public Health Inspector helps reduce the incidence of communicable diseases and health hazards, performs technical assessments, provides consultative and educational services, and ensures that community development encourages a healthy environment.  The Public Health Inspector identifies hazards in residential, recreation, and commercial premises, provides information and training on contemporary alternative and techniques.  The Public Health Inspector responds to current environmental problems and concerns, investigates complaints, inspects premises, assesses and assures plans to ensure compliance with pertinent legislation.

  • Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.  HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria.
  • Car allowance will be provided
  • The employee must hold a valid Saskatchewan driver's license and must provide a vehicle unless arrangements for a CVA car are made at the time of hire.  The employee must be willing to travel in the rural area and be willing to travel for additional training courses and other related work activities.
  • This employee will work field hours.
