Posting Overview:

The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) is creating a diverse leadership pool of qualified candidates for future elementary and secondary Principal and Vice-Principal positions. This posting is open to qualified internal and external applicants. The Vice-Principal is appointed by the Board to administer, organize and manage a school in compliance with the policies and procedures of the Board, along with policies of the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training.

The following minimum qualifications, experience and skills are required for this position:

Qualifications/Experience:

• Principals' qualifications according to Regulation 298 of the Education Act.

Note: Applications will also be considered from those who will have the Principal's Qualification Part 1 completed prior to the start of the next school year.

Other Key Skills & Knowledge:

• Equity and anti-oppressive leadership;

• Setting directions;

• Building relationships and developing people;

• Developing the organization to support desired practices;

• Securing accountability;

• Cognitive, social, and psychological resources as per the Ontario Leadership Framework;

• Evidence working with Indigenous people and people of diverse ethnic, racialized and 2SLGBTQ+ communities;

• Evidence of academic and personal engagement with equity and justice issues;

• Evidence of successful teaching in elementary and/or secondary education.

Process:

Internal Applicants will be considered for Vice-Principal positions.

External Applicants will be considered for Vice-Principal and/or Principal positions.

Openings for Vice-Principal within the District will be filled from a pool of eligible candidates.

The appointment to the Pool will be based on the following:

• Applicants should submit the following: cover letter (expression of interest), a copy of the applicant’s Ontario College of Teachers’ Certificate of Qualification and a Curriculum Vitae clearly stating educational background, qualifications and leadership experience relative to the experience/skills identified above.

• Supervisor's Report - The applicant is to consult with their supervisor to complete the Supervisor's report. The completed Supervisor's report must be emailed to Administrative Leadership Pool Facilitator, Sue Ferguson (Susan.Ferguson@lkdsb.net) by 4:00 p.m. on October 25, 2024. External applicants can contact Sue Ferguson (Susan.Ferguson@lkdsb.net) to obtain a copy of the report for completion.

• We will be requesting references at a later date once initial applications are assessed. You will need five references (three supervisors including your current supervisor, along with two other professional references).

• Interview
