Dimensions

This position reports directly to the Metallurgy Superintendent.

Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide project assistance during the design, construction, installation and commissioning of the installation and operation of the new Waste to Ore Demonstration Plant. After commissioning the role will require ongoing process optimization as well as the provision of technical metallurgical information and operating parameters to personnel in the Processing plant.

Essential Duties

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / RESULTS & ASSOCIATED DUTIES

Metallurgical information and reporting:

  • Create and analyze operational information to improve plant performance and reduce costs.
  • Gather information and perform analysis to assist in determining the budget and plan for mill metallurgical needs.
  • Develop and utilize plant software systems - PI Process Book, Centric, SAP.
  • Support continued compliance with International Cyanide Code Certification.
  • Carry out routine plant sampling and test work to support operations and project work.
  • Assist in metallurgical accounting duties including month end reconciliation and plant inventories.
  • Monitor and report on reagent consumption in the mill.

Operational plant support:

  • Provide technical support to the operations and maintenance teams to ensure efficient operation of all areas of the plant - Crushing, Grinding, Leach/CIP, Stripping and Refining.
  • Coordinate and conduct sampling from various stages of processing for laboratory analysis and testing.
  • Regularly review key plant operational parameters and recommend changes as required.
  • Actively identify and implement plant improvement opportunities.
  • Optimize circuit performance and reagent usage to minimize cost and improve recovery.
  • Support safe and efficient operation of mill tailings treatment and effluent disposal processes.

Lead and participate in plant improvement projects:

  • Lead small to medium scale metallurgical projects utilizing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Develop project charters, work plans, schedules and budgets.
  • Execute work plans, manage schedules and budgets to effectively deliver project results.
  • Participate as a team member in other plant projects.
Training & Experience

  • University degree in mineral processing or Chemical Engineering or a 3 year Diploma in Metallurgical Technology.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a minerals processing environment
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Gold hydrometallurgical experience.
  • Rod and Ball mill operational experience.
  • CIP operational experience.
  • Cyanide detoxification technology.
  • Gold gravity extraction experience.
  • Ability to use computer systems including Microsoft Office, SAP and the PI system.

Working Conditions

The schedule is 4x3. As such if you do not live in the area, we will require relocation.
