What can I expect to do in this role?In this role, you will:
• Lead the development of the business continuity and emergency management plan for the Ministry, including emergency response, business continuity, hazard identification, and risk management activities, providing direction and guidance to all Divisions.
• Lead the annual review of the Ministry and Divisional business continuity and emergency management plans including recovery plans to ensure the continuity of critical functions; design and maintain incident management and reporting protocols; and conduct program evaluations.
• Lead the development and facilitation of training and exercises for clients and internal teams.
• Plan, lead and conduct Building Physical Security Threat Risk Assessments (TRAs), develop a Building Physical Security Plan (BPSP) to address and mitigate threats and vulnerabilities, and provide risk mitigation advice.
• Lead consultations with the program areas and the internal executive committees, provide advice and recommendations on related initiatives and program changes.
• As an Alternate Ministry Emergency Management Coordinator (AMEMC) provide advice and support to the Ministry Action Group on the ministry's response during emergencies.
• Develop and maintain partnerships and act as a liaison with the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre (PEOC) and the Office of the Provincial Security Advisor (OPSA).
• Conduct research, prepare and present reports, briefings, and presentation materials for a variety of audience including senior leadership.

How do I qualify?Program Management, Research and Analytical skills• You have demonstrated ability to design and implement corporate and/or ministry programs effectively.
• You have strong project management and coordination skills to support emergency management and physical security program deliverables.
• You have strong research and analytical skills to develop options, recommend effective solutions and prepare various reports.
• You have strong ability to establish work priorities, anticipate issues and manage time to ensure production of high-quality results in face of competing priorities.
• You have strong innovation skills to leverage technology and other opportunities to achieve continuous improvement and excellence.

Business Knowledge• You have expert knowledge of the legislation, principles, policies, practices, and protocols related to emergency management and physical security programming.
• You have expert knowledge and demonstrated experience developing and maintaining effective business continuity plans and processes.

Advisory and Influencing Skills• You have excellent interpersonal, influencing, and relationship building skills to establish and maintain relationships/partnerships, both internal and external to the OPS.
• You can lead and facilitate consultations with diverse client groups.
• You have strong advisory and facilitation skills to work with program areas, other ministries, governments, and industry and establish effective partnerships.

Communication & Presentation Skills• You have excellent oral and written communication skills to prepare and deliver plans, briefing materials, reports, education and exercises, etc.
• You possess strong presentation skills to deliver adult education and training, present ideas on complex risk and prevention strategies.
