We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed educator to join our team at
John McCrae SS as:
Secondary Long-Term Occasional Teacher
Eligibility
All qualified secondary Occasional Teachers are eligible to apply for LTO postings for which they are qualified.
*NEW* Extension of LTO Assignment into Semester 2
Where an LTO is in a Semester 1 Assignment behind a contract teacher, the Employer may extend the LTO into Semester 2 behind the same contract teacher provided that they meet ALL of the following criteria:
(a)The original LTO assignment was posted and the employee was the successful applicant;
(b) The employee would be replacing the same absent contract teacher;
(c)The employee has the appropriate OCT qualifications, as determined by the Employer, for the semester 2 sections assigned to the absent contract teacher;
d) The extension would not increase their status;
e) The Employer does not have documented performance concerns and there are no current concerns of a disciplinary nature respecting the employee; and
f) the LTO has agreed to the extension.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers and possess the following:

Order of Consideration
Applications will be assessed according to the requirements and OCT qualifications outlined in this job posting, and in accordance with Policy P.146.HR Equitable Recruitment, Hiring and Promotion.
A minimum of 3 qualified applicants will be offered an interview, including:
At least three (3) teachers, who are currently employed as an occasional teacher with the OCDSB, who have the required OCT qualifications, and who best meet the criteria outlined in the job posting.
If fewer than three (3) qualified applicants apply, all qualified applicants will be interviewed.
Application Process
Teachers should apply only to the vacancies to which they will accept an interview.
An OT who accepts an LTO assignment cannot apply to another LTO assignment that interferes with classes they are actively teaching. It is the expectation that a teacher who accepts an assignment must agree to complete the assignment as posted.
Teachers can teach a maximum of three (3) classes within a semester, which equals 100%. For those working at IB sites or Alternate sites, a teacher can teach a maximum of six (6) classes across the school year, which equals 100%.
