We are seeking a creative, dynamic and committed educators to submit an Expression of Interest for Continuing Education:
Winter 2025 Night School (VIRTUAL) - Secondary Teacher
Overview
The Winter 2025 Night School program offers Reach Ahead courses in the following subjects: Guidance and Career Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences and Humanities, ESL, as well as the Ontario Secondary School Literacy course. The Winter 2025 Night School program for students will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from Thursday, February 20 - May 29, 2025. There will be a paid staff meeting prior to the start of the Night School classes on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm via Google Meet. Each session is 3.85 instructional hours, running from 5:30 p.m. to 9:21 pm. Teachers must be prepared to deliver the assigned credit through Synchronous and Asynchronous platforms according to a PREDETERMINED schedule. The platforms that will be used to deliver virtual learning expectations will include Google Classroom as the Learning Management Platform and Google Meet for class meetings. Teachers may also wish to incorporate other vetted applications and resources and will be able to access resources within the VLE.
As the program is offered in virtual format, it is expected that all educators have access to secure and reliable internet, without additional cost to the OCDSB.
Please note, as per the collective agreement, article 40.02 c: in the event that the Employer cancels two (2) or more days/evenings of Continuing Education courses as a result of unforeseen circumstances beyond its control, Continuing Education teachers will be required to attend and teach a make-up evening. The Winter 2025 Night School Session replacement date is Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

Pay rate: $55.45/hour + 4% in lieu of vacation

Application Process
There is only one posting for the Winter 2025 Night School Session. All teachers, with or without Continuing Education (CE) Seniority, can apply to this posting. Applicants MUST hold Senior qualifications with the Ontario College of Teachers (in good standing) at the time of application. Per the Collective Agreement, applicants with CE Seniority who appear on the October 2024 Continuing Education Seniority List and hold the required qualifications will be offered positions first.
If there are still positions available after all CE Seniority teachers who applied to this posting have been placed, remaining applicants will be assessed according to the requirements and OCT qualifications outlined in this job posting, and in accordance with Policy P.146.HR Equitable Recruitment, Hiring and Promotion.

Staffing Timelines
Staffing timelines for Night School become more and more constrained as we edge closer to the end of registration. Offers of work will begin no earlier than February 3, 2025, but could be as late as Thursday, February 20, 2025. Offers will be sent to the email you provided in Apply to Education (ATE) by the Principal of Continuing Education. Please make sure that your preferred email address is up-to-date in ATE. Offers will have specific response parameters, including timelines for acceptance/decline. Teachers will have 24 hours to respond to the offer. Where acceptances are not received within the timeframes specified in the email, it will be assumed that you are declining the offer of work.
PLEASE NOTE: As a condition of employment, all new employees will be required to submit a recent Police Record Check for the vulnerable sector prior to their start date with the OCDSB.
