Parkland School Division (PSD) is a large progressive school jurisdiction serving Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Parkland County and Athabasca Delta Community School in the northern remote community of Fort Chipewyan. The Opportunity:

Parkland School Division is seeking a reliable and motivated seasonal part-time Activity Bus Driver to support transportation needs at Connections for Learning (CFL) for the Parkland Student Athlete Academy and Building Futures programs located in Spruce Grove and Stony Plain, AB. The role includes safely transporting students between schools and facilities, ensuring the bus is well-maintained, and adhering to all Parkland School Division protocols.

Primary Responsibilities:

?Safely transport students between schools, facilities, and other locations as part of regular programming throughout the local area.

?Conduct and document daily pre-trip & post trip inspections.

?Drive for occasional special events, adding to the regular bus run schedule.

?Maintain the cleanliness of both the interior and exterior of the bus.

?Coordinate regular maintenance, including pick-up and drop-off of the bus at the maintenance facility.

?Ensure compliance with the Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) and National Safety Code (NSC) requirements

?Follow all Parkland School Division transportation policies and procedures.

?Maintain accurate records, including daily logs and inspection reports.

?Collaborate with school staff to ensure timely and safe transportation of students.

?Adhere to all Provincial traffic laws and regulations, NSC & Hours of Service.

?Ensure proper load securement for any equipment or materials transported on the bus.

Qualifications:

?Valid Class 4 Alberta Driver’s License or higher.

Note: Training may be provided to obtain a Class 2 license.

?Clean Driver’s Abstract.

?Experience driving buses or large passenger vehicles is required.

?Familiarity with CVIP inspections and NSC requirements.

?First Aid training is an asset

?Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks (training can be provided).

?Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with school staff.

?Ability to prioritize safety and always maintain professional conduct.

?Ability to fuel up the bus along with washing the exterior of the bus.

?Ability to successfully complete PSD’s driver evaluations.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

?Must complete incident, accident and emergency procedures training.

?Must complete winter driving techniques and student management training

?Must conduct bus evacuations in the event of an emergency

?Ability to lift and move small equipment or items if needed.

?Must communicate clearly with students and school-based staff

?Attention to detail and safety must be a priority

?Responsible and reliable.

?Flexible and adaptable to changing situations.

?Positive attitude and willingness to assist with various tasks.

?Strong relationship skills to assist with student interactions and supervision.

?Ability to follow both written and verbal direction

?A team player with the ability to function independently as needed

This position requires an original copy of a current clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector and an original copy of a child intervention record check.

Hours of Work: Approximately 25 hours/week (Monday to Friday)

Scheduled hours will be between 7:40 AM to 3:40 PM
