Job Description:
The Engineering Services During Construction (ESDC) Manager is an experienced project manager with a strong background in heavy civil infrastructure and/ or LRT projects. They will lead the Engineering Services team during the construction phase, responding to issues in real time and ensuring all relevant parties are in agreement with the solutions proposed, acting as the company representative to the client and subcontractors during the execution of the project.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Define program goals, devising and planning methods to successfully achieve them while ensuring that the project is on schedule, within budget, and following the Project Agreement
- Develop and manage the scope and commercial performance of the project to meet project goals and objectives.
- Establish and maintain the program requirements for all scopes of the project, continuously monitoring draft and final deliverables for adherence.
- Plan, direct, supervise, and control the execution of all business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the project.
- Mobilize company resources, by liaising with support departments, offices, and subsidiaries, to create project teams capable of completing effective, quality work.
- Assigns responsibility for executing project plans to key subordinates.
- Continuously monitor and report to management on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule.
- Negotiates changes to the scope of work with the client and key subcontractors, including maintaining current and timely change orders.
- Conduct regular meetings with relevant stakeholders to ensure the project schedule is met, and issues are resolved in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Ensure Project instructions and commitments are addressed and adhered to.
- Participate in meetings with regulatory agencies and in public meetings in support of the project.
- Oversee and is familiar with all aspects of Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other documents.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or construction-related field, or equivalent construction-related work experience
- Professional registration with APEGA.
- Minimum of 10 years of related asset management experience is required, with at least 5 years of related experience in heavy civil infrastructure and /or Light Rail projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards
- Broad general technical and business background, superior business acumen and exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Must have the ability to manage projects, interface with clients and enjoy being hands-on technically in the project.
- Exceptional communication skills with the flexibility to balance competing deadlines and priorities with poise, and possess exceptional analytical and organizational skills
