Job Description:

Join our growing Bridges and Marine Structures team in Halifax, NS, as an Intermediate Structural Engineer. This role offers a clear pathway to technical and project leadership, providing opportunities to design innovative solutions and grow in client relations, project management, and business development. As a member of the team, you will report to the Bridge Engineering Manager and collaborate on a variety of challenging projects. This position is ideal for someone who values mentorship, thrives on technically complex work, and seeks opportunities to contribute and grow.

Job Description:

Your expertise in bridge and marine structure design will drive client satisfaction and support winning new projects. You will assist our business development team in identifying opportunities within Nova Scotia and HRM, contributing to proposals and helping to secure new work. As part of your technical delivery role, you will plan and define project/program goals and collaborate with the project managers and regional director to ensure success across all phases of projects, from inception and design to construction and closeout. With your P.Eng. designation and over 5 years of experience, you’ll bring technical leadership to bridge and marine projects while fostering a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and analysis of bridges, marine structures, and other civil engineering projects.

  • Support project delivery as a technical lead on smaller projects, ensuring quality and efficiency.

  • Collaborate on proposals and contribute to developing innovative solutions for client needs.

  • Foster and maintain relationships with clients while supporting business development efforts.

  • Contribute to inspections, assessments, and rehabilitation of existing structures.

  • Provide mentorship to junior team members and actively contribute to a positive team culture.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structures.

  • Professional Status: Hold a Professional Engineer registration in Canada.

  • Extensive Experience: Bring 5+ years of hands-on experience in structural design, demonstrating your deep industry knowledge and practical skills.

  • Technical Mastery: Possess in-depth knowledge of bridge standards (including CAN/CSA-S6) and proficiency with leading structural analysis software such as SAP, CSiBridge, MIDAS, and others.

  • Collaborative team member: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and take a lead role on smaller technical projects developing comprehensive plans and design for bridge and marine infrastructure, driving successful outcomes from concept to completion.
