Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Process Superintendent to join our team! In this role you will get to oversee water treatment operations at the Faro Mine Remediation Site.

This position is site based in Faro, YT and will require a fly-in/fly-out rotation.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Overseeing the operation of three lime-based water treatment facilities and all site pumping infrastructure.
  • Ensure that all pumping and conveyance systems for contact water collection and water treatment plants are optimized and maintain compliance requirements, including water quality monitoring and treatment process & control.
  • Managing Water Treatment Operations manpower, including four rotating crews of 6-8 personnel each - 24-30 direct reports. Reviewing/approving timecards, managing vacation requests and scheduling necessary overtime to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Coaching, training and developing Water Treatment personnel, including both operators and Supervisors. This will also include conducting effective performance evaluations, engaging in regular 1:1s, and building professional development plans for team members.
  • Leading interviews for Water Treatment personnel and supporting Admin teams with onboarding, accommodations, and travel scheduling for new personnel.
  • Providing leadership, direction and auditing of daily records of plant and pumping performance.
  • Responsible for operational site water balance including managing pit lake and pond water levels, evaluating inflows and outflows and adjusting pumping systems to maintain levels within compliance limits.
  • Generate and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), audit emergency response plans, and lead Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA).
  • Work closely with Maintenance teams to ensure maximum plant/equipment uptime and optimal scheduling of repairs, PMs or other maintenance functions.
  • Leading, advocating for, and communicating the implementation of change initiatives and new processes & technologies.
  • Be a champion of safety for all site personnel, maintain environmental compliance, and maximize clean water output within the Client parameters for Direct Discharge Protocol.
  • Interfacing with Client representatives to both communicate the status of Water Treatment activities and provide feedback on various technical document reviews.
  • Understanding, communicating and reinforcing both the Client’s and Parsons’ goals & objectives to the workforce while directing activities that achieve them most effectively.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Water Treatment Operator Level 2 minimum certification or equivalent.
  • Typically 12 Years or more of industrial or mine water treatment experience or equivalent
  • Demonstrated management experience of pumping/conveyance and lime treatment operations for large scale contaminated water management programs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and coordinating crews more than 25 including operators, and administrative staff.
  • Yukon First Line Supervisor certification, or ability to obtain within probationary period.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring

  • Working knowledge of Yukon OHS Act and other applicable Federal and territorial safety legislation.
  • Computer Skills - Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience interfacing with CMMS, especially Maintenance Connection.
  • Experience leading and managing unionized workforces.
