Job Description:
Parsons has a position open for a Civil Engineering Technologist or Technician to join our transportation design group. This position is located in the Ottawa office which offers a hybrid work environment where appropriate. Experience with AutoDesk and Bentley products (Autocad, Microstation, AutoTURN, OpenRoads Designer, ProjectWise, TORUS) will be considered an asset.
Responsibilities:
- Understands and utilizes a range of software leading to functional, preliminary, detailed design drawings.
- Interprets and ensures conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Perform geometric design of street, transit, roadway, highway, and active transportation systems.
- Works closely with Engineers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design systems.
- Meets Transportation Engineering and Complete Street layout requirements and develops alternate design layouts of systems as required.
- Ensures compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications.
- Reviews supplier data and supplier/manufacturer drawings, as required.
- Checks orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) drawings prepared by others.
- Performs checking procedures as appropriate to the discipline and assigned by immediate supervisor.
- Performs design and quantity calculations, and contribute to the completion of engineering cost estimates, specifications and tender packages.
Requirements:
- Technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer course (or equivalent) is preferred. Graduates of engineering degree programs who are looking to focus their career on computer aided design will also be considered.
