Description

This role acts as the General Manager for several districts and facilities which will be geographically separated from one another. The District Manager will lead and develop the capabilities of his team to meet the goals of Purolator Inc despite their absence from the team due to the geographical situation. In addition, the District Manager is responsible for meeting and exceeding all targets, budgets, and plans for his district and protecting the assets of the company and the Business Unit.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Health & Safety Committees: Supervise safe work practices and accident investigations.
  • Understand and Apply Collective Agreements: Ensure compliance with applicable collective agreements.
  • Establish Performance Standards: Define performance standards and hold staff accountable for achieving them.
  • Evaluate and Identify Personnel Issues: Identify and resolve personnel-related issues.
  • Coach and Empower Unit Managers and Team Leaders: Provide support and training to managers and team leaders across all units and facilities.
  • Monitor Productivity Updates: Compare performance against objectives and provide feedback to managers and team leaders.
  • Promote and Manage Trak3: Ensure the management of Trak3 within budget and capacity.
  • Drive Business Growth: Foster excellence through cross-functional coordination.
  • Improve Customer Satisfaction: Provide exceptional scanning visibility and timely service.
  • Monitor and Enhance Performance: Evaluate and improve performance across all service indices.
  • Supervise and Manage Administrative Groups: Manage administrative and customer service groups specific to the location.
  • Maintain Systems, Records, and Procedures: Ensure compliance with work instructions, policies, and legislative requirements.
  • Aim for Profitability: Seek improvement opportunities beyond budgets.
  • Effective Delegation: Delegate responsibility and authority to maintain standards.
  • Manage Facility Maintenance: Supervise facility maintenance and contractor services.
  • Ensure Proper Revenue Capture: Ensure adherence to the correct billing system (address correction, TRAK3).

Education/Knowledge required
  • Knowledge of the transportation or courier industry.
  • Strong computer skills and general mathematical skills.
  • Time management and logical thinking skills.
Experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience required in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of unionized environments and labor relations.
  • Experience in interpreting, establishing, and maintaining standards.
  • Experience in customer management.
