What is the opportunity?

This role leads the execution of IT Risk management and operational risk management (ORM) within RBC Borealis. The role is also responsible for participating in planning and managing ORM programs and processes as they flow across RBC Borealis.

Expert understanding of IT & ORM practices, providing control and advisory services to application development, and support teams. Services provided cover IT & operational risk analysis, risk & compliance exposure reporting, risk awareness & advisory, and regulatory & audit response.

What will you do?

  • Lead identification, assessment and treatment recommendations for IT & Operational risks

  • Work with application teams to ensure compliance with all standard requirements.

  • As the issue management process SME within RBC Borealis, educate issue owners on their role and communicate process changes.

  • Complete your role in various issue management workflows in a timely manner.

  • Prepare period presentations on risk management in RBC Borealis including regular pillar updates.

  • Point of contact/lead for audit and regulatory reviews within RBC Borealis.

  • Work with application teams to identify potential issues in risk management processes and provide feedback to process owners to help determine if change is required.

  • Contribute to automation and process improvement initiatives related to risk management within RBC Borealis.

  • Contribute to the execution of Risk and Control Self Assessments for RBC Borealis

  • Contribute to the delivery of the RBC Borealis IT & Operational risk awareness program.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Minimum 5+ years experience in related field

  • Expert knowledge of IT and operational risk management processes, methods and tools

  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure & software security architectures

  • Demonstrable technical knowledge and experience covering the operating systems (e.g. Unix, Windows, zOS) and database systems (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, DB2)

  • Good communication (verbal and written) skills, including a strong appreciation of relationship management

Nice-to-have

  • Risk or Information Security Designation

  • Knowledge of GRC tools (e.g. ServiceNow, Archer)

  • Knowledge of Data & AI

  • Experience with Tableau

  • Experience with Python
