Surrey Schools is seeking on-call casual Food Service Workers. These roles support school breakfast and lunch programs. When needed the hours are typically 4 to 5 hours shifts. Hours of work are not guaranteed. Work follows the school calendar (September to June) and does recognize regular school closures ie: winter, spring and summer.

Incumbents will have the ability to apply into permanent positions (approximately 20 hours per week) when vacancies are posted.

Typical Duties

Orders, prepares, and serves a simple Breakfast to students at selected schools.

Organizes prepared lunches for and distribution to students.

Monitors food quality, deliveries, food temperatures and food safety, and communicates any concerns to Supervisor.

Modifies food orders depending on students’ food allergies.

Keeps basic records using a computer.

Mandatory Job Requirements

Current Food Safe I certificate

At least 1 year’s experience in a fast paced food service environment; basic food preparation and serving skills.

Able to speak, read and write in English. Able to order online and use email.

Valid BC Driver’s License and a vehicle to travel between schools.

This position pays $24.85 per hour plus an allowance in lieu of benefits. The work is on-call work Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the school year (September to June).
