Settlement Worker in Schools
Temporary Full-time - 35 hours/week
Effective ASAP to March 31, 2025
Burnaby, one of British Columbia’s most ethnically diverse urban school districts, is seeking applications for a qualified Settlement Worker interested in a temporary full-time position until March 31, 2025. Fluency in Tigrigna required and knowledge of Amharic language would be an asset.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Post-secondary degree or equivalent in related field, plus a minimum of one year related work experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
Demonstrated experience with students and families in a K-12 educational setting in B.C., and cross-cultural competency and understanding of child development and youth issues.
Fluency in English and assigned language(s).
Thorough knowledge and experience working in a multicultural setting.
Sound knowledge of negotiation, advocacy skills, conflict resolution and problem solving.
Thorough knowledge of immigration policies and settlement issues.
Sound knowledge of community and agency resources.
Valid BC Driver’s License (class 5).
Current salary: $35.80/hour.
