Position Title: Systems Engineer intermediate (Enablement Engineer)

Line of Business: Enterprise technology - enterprise tool change platform team. Enable and provide capabilities for tech teams to use tech tools.

Target Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 6 months

Remote/Hybrid: Hybrid - Monday in office - 1st Friday of every month

Location: Financial District (Downtown Toronto)


Responsibilities:

As a DevOps Enablement Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the DevOps COE by working closely with various internal teams to enable and drive the adoption of a new enterprise-wide toolchain. Your primary focus will be on consulting with application development and operations teams to help them integrate and optimize their workflows using the latest DevOps tools and practices. You will provide expertise and guidance, developing tailored solutions such as internal workflows, reusable workflows, and custom actions to meet specific team needs.

In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor, helping teams understand and adopt GitHub Actions and codifying platform configurations for various platforms. Your work will include building custom scripts and tools to facilitate platform audit or management capabilities. Collaboration is key, and you will work alongside partners in application development, quality assurance, operations, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions that meet their unique needs.

How You’ll Succeed:

Consultative Support: Serve as an advisor to internal teams, guiding them in the adoption and optimization of DevOps tools and practices. Provide hands-on support and expertise to tailor solutions to their specific needs.

Enablement Champion: Promote an optimized and simplified lifecycle experience for our internal partners throughout the entire deployment pipeline. Collaborate with teams using Agile and DevOps principles with a strong focus on cultural and people change management.

Toolchain Expertise: Understand all components of the toolchain and how to support teams in their onboarding and integration of these new tools. Provide feedback to the DevOps COE Engineering leadership on how to further improve user experience for teams onboarding.

Training and Mentoring: Develop and deliver training sessions and workshops to empower teams with the knowledge and skills necessary to leverage the new toolchain effectively. Mentor team members and promote best practices.

Python and Shell Scripting: Utilize Python and shell scripting to automate tasks, improve workflows, and integrate systems across the toolchain, providing reusable scripts and tools for teams.

Continuous Improvement: Challenge the status quo, identify opportunities to enhance delivery processes, and increase production monitoring and infrastructure automation capabilities.

Who You Are:

You have 2-4 years of experience in DevOps Engineering, Software Development, or related roles, with a focus on enabling and providing end user support for teams.

Proficient in administering GitHub, JFrog Artifactory, and SonarQube, with the ability to guide teams in their integration.

You are experienced in developing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, with the ability to tailor solutions to meet team needs.

You are skilled in providing training and mentorship, with a passion for sharing knowledge and empowering others.

You have strong scripting skills in Python or at least one shell (Bash, Powershell), with a focus on building reusable solutions for teams.

Must haves:

  1. 2-4 years of experience in DevOps Engineering, Software Development, or related roles, with a focus on enabling and providing end user support for teams.
  2. Familiarity with GitHub Enterprise Cloud and administration features
  3. Familiarity with JFrog Artifactory and administration features
  4. Familiarity with GitHub Actions (CI/CD tool)
  5. You have strong scripting skills in Python or at least one shell (Bash, Powershell), with a focus on building reusable solutions for teams.

Nice to have:

  1. Strong nice to have - Certificate in Git Hub enterprise cloud
  2. SonarQube
  3. Ansible automation


Education and Certifications: Strong nice to have - Certificate in Git Hub enterprise cloud. Degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, and/or a related field of study or have comparable work experience.
