Junior Business Analyst
Location Address: Hybrid (2-3/week on site), 40 Temperance Street 7th Floor (40T-7)
Contract Duration: 12 months
Story Behind the Need
Business Continuity & Operational Resilience
Project: Contributes to the overall success of GBM (Global Banking & Markets) Business Continuity and Operational Resilience team globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures and adheres to bank risk appetite.
Require contractors to assist in the development of GBM Canada's Operational Resilience program, including assistance with process mapping, and project management.
Responsibilities:
• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems and knowledge;
• Lead Operational Resilience planning sessions to determine GBM Canada critical business services, impact tolerances, process mapping and vulnerability remediation efforts;
• Assist with Operational Resilience self-assessments for all GBM Canada critical business services;
• Contributes to Operational Resilience efforts to prevent, adapt, respond to, recover, and learn from operational disruptions in collaboration with other BLs and risk management groups (ECM, GRM, etc.);
• Prepare operational resilience related materials for exercises, committees, crisis task forces, and working groups (external and internal);
• Coordinate and align with other regions for Operational Resilience
• Assist with audit remediation efforts for GBM operational resilience issues;
• Assist Manager of Operational Resilience with other duties as required;
• Understand how the bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions;
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s values, Code of Conduct and Global Sales Principles while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligation with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk;
• Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
Must Have Skills:
• 3-4 years as BA, exposure project management and stakeholder engagement
• Advanced computer skills particularly with process mapping tools (Visio), and MS Office (Excel, Word and Power Point, Power BI)
• Strong organizational and written and verbal communications skills to diverse stakeholders
Nice-To-Have Skills:
OSFI E-21 Knowledge
Familiarity with regulatory requirements in financial industry
Best vs Average: Leading projects, work with level ambiguity, expertly discuss with stakeholders.
Detail oriented, ask questions.
Degrees or certifications:
• Undergraduate degree in business-related studies or equivalent work experience
