Internal Business Development Manager, Mortgage Protection Plan

As an Inside Business Development Manager (IBDM) for Mortgage Protection (Brokers distribution channel) you will be responsible for growing the client base of Mortgage Brokers through the promotion and education of our Manulife MPP solutions. This will involve managing and deepening existing mortgage broker relationships and prospecting for new ones. Your goal is to increase the production of mortgage brokers until they meet a volume threshold that would transition them from being supported by you to being supported by a dedicated external Business Development Manager (BDM). You will continually grow positive relationships through targeted call campaigns, virtual meetings and professional telephone and email sales activity. You will also be accountable for the initial stages of onboarding process in your specific region.

The ideal candidate is dynamic, loves challenging themselves, and has a fun competitive spirit. Your leader and your team will give you all the support, intensive coaching and training you need. You will be required to have a LLQP designation or to obtain one in the first six months of your assignment with Manulife.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Present selling strategy and provide compliance training to mortgage brokers.

  • Collaborate with BDMs to select educational program candidates and conduct knowledge checks.

  • Host virtual meetings and support brokers from pre-application to funding.

  • Process broker deals and coordinate with internal ops for troubleshooting.

  • Build relationships within the organization and leverage technology for efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

  • College or University degree in a related field

  • Minimum 2 years experience in the financial services and mortgage brokerage industry

  • Experience conducting virtual meetings and presentations

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including intermediate level of expertise using Excel

  • Fully bilingual (French/English): The successful candidate will be required to communicate in English and French in order to support clients from various jurisdictions outside of Quebec.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Salesforce.com is preferred

  • LLQP Designation preferred will be a condition of employment in the first year of assignment

  • Skilled in persuasion, negotiation, and active listening with strong sales and business development abilities.

  • Executes a repeatable sales process and cultivates strong client and partner relationships.

  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and communication skills.

  • Adaptable, initiative-driven, and thrives in fast-paced environments with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Results-driven, team-oriented, and open to feedback with a focus on continuous improvement.
