  • Summary of Duties

    The PAA provides administrative support to the M5 High Risk Obstetrics Unit through the coordination of patient flow, maintenance of patient records, and communication with patients, families and the interprofessional team. The PAA reports to the Patient Care Manager and works closely with the Nursing staff to prioritize daily activities.

     

     

    Qualifications/Skills

    • One year of Community College required
    • Medical Terminology course preferred
    • Candidates who have successfully completed the Hospital’s PAA training and successfully
    • met the requirements of the Performance Review and Development Plan (i.e. confirmed in the PAA role) will be given priority consideration
    • Must achieve successful completion of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre’s PAA training within 6 weeks
    • One year of Administrative/Business experience in a health care setting preferred
    • Demonstrated Patient-Focused/Family-Centred Care and Customer Service behaviour required
    • Proficiency with MS Office computer skills (Word/Outlook/Excel) required
    • Working knowledge of Sunnybrook patient software (Quadramed, Sunnycare, and Bed Management System) strongly preferred
    • Proven accurate keyboarding skills at 40 net w.p.m. or data entry at 106 net keystrokes per minute
    • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and follow through with work required
    • Demonstrated ability to work accurately at a fast pace in an unpredictable environment required
    • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and communication (oral, written, comprehension) skills required
    • Demonstrated ability to handle and process confidential health information required
    • Demonstrated ability to work in an interprofessional setting required
    • Proven ability to work in a sensitive and compassionate way with patients and family required.
