The Waterloo Region District School Board invites applications from candidates who are members in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers and possess a current (2024) Certificate of Qualification and are qualified to teach International Language Credit Courses (Gujarati ). The classes are regularly 3.5 hours per week on Saturdays. The hourly rate of pay is currently $61.18/hour. This program is currently delivered through a virtual platform with a possible shift to in-person; hours of work are from 8:45 am to 12:30 pm.Responsibilities:Deliver the secondary school international language curriculum in a virtual classroom Developing course materials and curriculum content in accordance with the Ministry of Education Curriculum document for International Languages gr. 9-12: http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/curriculum/secondary/classiclang912curr.pdf and ensure proper planning and follow up for the academic progress of all studentsIdentifying students individual learning needs and using a variety of instructional strategies including small group, individual, and whole class learning experiencesEvaluating the progress of students and discussing results with students and parentsCreating annual reports of students performance and challenges, with recommendations for improvementEnsuring a safe academic environment conducive to learning in class and onlinePromoting positive attitudes towards, and encouraging enthusiasm for language learningParticipating in staff meetings, instructor training workshopsUtilize the Virtual Learning Environment D2L in online teachingEngage students in communicative, real life, task-based language activities which emphasize the 3 strands of oral, reading and writingOther duties as required Minimum Requirements:Hold a current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification (If no candidates with an OCT apply, other candidates will be considered)Intermediate & Senior teaching qualifications in the credit languageDemonstrable evidence of instructing in the credit languageA certification in language instruction from an accredited College or University would be an asset\Hours of Work: From 8:45 am until 12:30pm, as soon as possible to June 30, 2025.The Waterloo Region District School Board is committed to equity in employment.
