The WECDSB is currently recruiting for the position of Temporary- Psychotherapist. Reporting to the Superintendent of Education K-212 and Mental Health Lead, the psychotherapist will provide the following services/support to our secondary schools:
Duties/Responsibilities:
Help foster a mentally healthy school environment
Provide brief, solution focused counselling (individual or group sessions)
Conduct thorough assessments of students' current mental health programs, needs and goals
Crisis intervention support as needed
Build capacity of school personnel to respond to students presenting with mild mental health concerns
Follow established protocols (suicide, safe schools, bereavement, trauma-response)
Attend transition meetings and provide support to students returning from community agencies
Coordinate services with multi-disciplinary Board team
Work with the Special Education Coordinators and the Mental Health Lead
Be available to principals and vice-principals to provide coaching in crisis situations
Develop proactive interventions (groups) once student based needs have been identified
Qualifications:
A Bachelors or Masters degree in clinical, counseling with a focus on children and adolescents
A member of the Ontario College of Social Worker and Social Service Workers, the College of Psychologists of Ontario or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
A valid Ontario Driver's License and access to a vehicle
Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams as well as independently
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
The following would be considered an asset:
Experience in the education system
Group facilitation skills
A.S.I.S.T and/or SafeTALK training or similar experience
Familiarity with Google Applications
