Required Education and Recommended Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience
Must hold, or be eligible for a(n) NWT Teaching Certificate
B.Ed with a specialization in Inclusive Schooling
A minimum of five years of teaching experience
Experience working as a Program Support Teacher would be an asset
Experience at the Grade 8 - 12 level
Background in inclusive education, working with students with diverse learning needs and experience working in inclusive school environments is required
Experience and knowledge in adapting programs for students with exceptional needs, including the development of Individual Education Plans and Student Support Plans
Experience providing professional development and coaching for teachers in the area of inclusive schooling
Knowledge of, and experience in working with students with low incidence disabilities
Training and experience in using a variety of standardized, normative assessment instruments to assess individual student progress
Knowledge of, and experience in the effective use of assistive technology would be an asset
Experience in a northern setting would be an asset
Vulnerable Sector Check is a requirement
Required Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to monitor and lead all IEP/SSP processes
Demonstrated ability to monitor and lead behaviour support plan processes
Demonstrated ability to work as part of an effective school team, as well as the ability to coordinate school support teams
