About Us

As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization, scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site. The DNNP is progressing towards the execution phase which is planned to commence in early 2025. The Plant Coordinator will report to the Plant Manager and will provide support to ongoing projects & supporting the plant teams in the deliverables they are providing.

What is the Opportunity?

  • Prepare the works and coordinate all assembly/fabrication/ testing and commissioning works related to tunneling excavation support systems (grout plant, cooling water system, STP, tunnel piping, compressed air system, etc.) including all aspects of the TBM assembly/ testing / commissioning and launching.
  • Liaising with suppliers (TBM/STP/WTP/Grout plant/MSV/etc.).
  • Prepare and coordinate TBM assembly schedule and tasks in conjunction with TBM supplier.
  • Keep records/logbooks of all preventing maintenance and repairs of the TBM and tunneling support systems and components (MSV/STP/WTP/Grout Plant/ etc.)
  • Prepare preventive maintenance plan based on the OEM maintenance plans.
  • Create purchase requests (PR) for parts /components and services as need it.
  • Assisting the Plant Manager in preparing accurate monthly reports.
  • Monitoring the level of spare parts and consumables for all the systems related to TBM and tunneling activities (MSV/ grout plant/ slurry and water treatment plants/ cooling system/ compress air system/ etc.)

What You Bring to the Table:

  • A recognized degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Ideally hold a minimum of 3-4 years of experience working on a TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) project.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience of working with heavy construction machinery.
  • Experience with developing methodologies to ensure compliance with the scope of works, technical criteria and safety standards.
  • Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning up to 12 weeks ahead, including weekly reporting on progress against plan and cost.
  • Experience developing SHEQ process and procedures and management of others in conducting SHEQ process and procedures.
  • Proficiency MS Suite / MS Project and AutoCAD required.
