Reporting to the Unit Manager, Pediatric Ambulatory Care, this position: Greets patients and answers the telephone. Coordinates the flow of patients and provides clerical support in a high volume, busy ambulatory setting. Schedules appointments using Connect Care and verifies patient information. Checks patients in and out for visits. Supports a multitude of clinics within the Ambulatory portfolio. Cross training to other ambulatory units will be required. Books appointments and meetings for clinicians/teams. Provides equipment and ordering supplies in the clinical area. Performs other clerical duties as required.

As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Minimum of Grade 12 with successful completion of post-secondary secretarial/unit clerk training with medical terminology is required. Two to three years of recent pediatric acute and/or Pediatric Ambulatory care experience is required. Proficiency with medical terminology and strong computer and typing skills are required. Experience with Connect Care Microsoft Office, excel database, and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) are required. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) is required. Must be able to push/pull/lift a minimum of 50 lbs and work in awkward positions. Strong communication skills with a courteous and pleasant front desk reception/telephone manner are desired when working with the public. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload. Professional behavior and excellent interpersonal skills are required when working with the public in this position. Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and ability to adapt quickly are desirable qualities. Must be able to work effectively in a complex, busy, noisy clinic environment and complete tasks while dealing with multiple interruptions.
