Description
Working under the supervision and guidance of the PLC Senior Flow Coordinators and Flow Coordinators, this position performs clerical duties related to patient bed allocation, admissions, direct admissions, and transferring of patients. The successful candidate is responsible for accurately placing admissions according to diagnosis and isolation requirements. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other medical staff. Other duties include attending bed huddles and communicating with units, unit clerks, unit managers, admitting staff, and physicians. The employee shall maintain confidentiality of all AHS information in accordance with the HIA, FOIP, and other privacy legislation in effect and shall comply at all times with AHS' Information Privacy and Security policies.
As an Administrative Support V, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. certificate in office or business administration).
Medical terminology required. Excellent knowledge of the English language, both written and oral. Able to maintain a professional image and demonstrated ability to remain calm, courteous, sensitive, and tactful. Accurate and proficient keyboarding skills of 40-50 wpm required. Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft 365 (including Excel, Word, Teams, Email, etc.) and Sharepoint. Demonstrated ability to work well under stress and heavy workload. Must be able to prioritize on an ongoing basis. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Demonstrated effective communication skills when dealing with staff, managers, and physicians. Skilled at paying close attention to detail. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Recent experience (within the last 2 years) as a Bed Placement coordinator preferred. Experience working with Connect Care preferred. Prior experience working with the public is an asset.
