An exciting opportunity exist within Alberta Health Services, Fort McMurray area with the Fort McMurray Recovery Centre. This facility offers 28 day bed-based addiction treatment services to both men and women based on current evidence, research and best practice. Client Care Assistants are integral members of the therapeutic treatment team, providing a supervised, safe and secure environment for clients residing in the Fort McMurray Recovery Centre. Using your experience working with adults in a residential care environment, you will: ensure a safe and secure facility; facilitate client admissions and client/facility searches; participate in medication assistance; assist with minor laundry and housekeeping duties; and prepare bedrooms for client admissions. The position also provides-supportive, daily care to the clients and assists in preparing recreational and psycho-educational groups. All observations, interactions and activities are appropriately documented and communicated to the treatment team. As a key member of the program team, you will also attend shift exchanged and relay information in an effective and timely manner; review client files regularly; communicate observations to the team verbally and in written form; assist in the preparation of recreational, evening and weekend programming as require; and participate in weekly clinical review meetings as required. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Client Care Assistant, you will work as a team member with all staff assisting in the provision of supportive care to clients with addictions. Your primary duties include providing supportive care to clients, ensuring a safe and secure facility, responding to client requests, communicating effectively with other staff and contributing to a therapeutic environment through interaction with clients. As part of an interprofessional team, you will contribute to the delivery of residential services to persons with an addiction promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. You will support clients to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will also work collaboratively with other health and service providers to maintain a safe and supportive environment.

Completion of Grade 12. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Successful applicants must have current First Aid/BCLS-HCP. Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 treatment environment. Evening, Overnight and Weekend availability is required. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Suicide Prevention and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is preferred. Preference will be given to those applicants with experience or knowledge in addiction and/or mental health.
