Licensed Practical Nurse

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides safe and effective nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards within the hospital outpatient setting. Working to the full scope of practice, the LPN assesses, monitors, reports, provides appropriate interventions and documents changes in the patient's physical, mental, and emotional state. The LPN assists the patient as needed and provides the patient and family with relevant information and any teaching that may be required. The LPN is responsible to collaborate as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, delivering consistent quality care, to meet the needs of the patient. As part of a team you will be working in all the clinic areas within Ambulatory Care. These include Endoscopy; Infusions; Minor surgery procedures; Dressing/Wound clinic; Stress Lab; and Visiting Specialist clinics (ENT and colposcopy); as well as assist in the Orthopedic Clinic. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Recent 1 year experience in an Ambulatory Care Setting.

Lead II preferred. Previous experience in Endoscopy is asset.
