Description
Reporting to the Manager or designate, the Mental Health Aide - Consumer Support Worker will work directly with clients in their own communities and within their homes. Under the guidance and direction of an Assertive Outreach Clinician and in collaboration with the client, you will assist in the development and implementation of an individual service plan, and respecting confidentiality will collaborate with significant others and involved professionals. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Mental Health Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a welcoming and safe care environment. You will assist in the provision of direct patient/client care as delegated in a person-centered, recovery oriented and safe manner. In this position, you will assist and / or promote independence to patients/clients in completing activities of daily living as well as assisting other health professionals with providing treatments and observing and reporting relevant patient/client information to professional staff. You will assist new patients/clients and families with orientation, and assist in the general support of the work area.
Completion of Grade 12. A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer will also be considered.
Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Post-secondary diploma level education in the human service field (LPN, rehab, and social work). Good observation and communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. Targeted Responder Level CPR through Heart & Stroke. Related experience dealing with individuals with complex mental health needs. 5 years' experience in community mental health or in related field. Training in suicide and crisis intervention: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (SPRAM) Certificate or equivalent. Mental Health First Aid. Non-violent crisis intervention. Able to travel in and around Lacombe.
