Description
The Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Program is Level 4 clinic that specializes in providing intensive and evidence-based treatment to individuals diagnosed with moderate to severe Borderline Personality Disorder within a community setting. Clients treated by the DBT Program are typically high acuity with chronic suicide attempts, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and patterns of high-risk behaviors including substance use and disordered eating. The DBT Program is a comprehensive treatment program, where client’s needs are met through weekly individual therapy sessions, weekly skills training classes, between session coaching during office hours, and participation in consultation team. The DBT team is interdisciplinary, comprised of therapists of varying backgrounds, psychiatrists, other support staff, and a clinical supervisor that work closely together to support a community of clients who are actively working on their life worth living. The DBT Program has an immediate opening for a Social Worker III. Reporting to the clinical supervisor and the manager, the major focus of responsibility for this individual is the provision of adherent and comprehensive Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. This will include being responsible for providing assessment, treatment, and case management to high-risk individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder presenting with complex and high-risk behaviours in an outpatient, community setting. This position requires the ability, and a desire, to work within a structured clinical model and receive regular and ongoing consultation and supervision. It will also require participating in co-facilitation of a Tuesday Evening Skills Training Class on a rotating basis (~ every 12 months).
As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).
Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Previous training and experience in the delivery of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy/Skills. Training and experience in trauma therapy modalities such as Prolonged Exposure, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, etc. Previous experience working with individuals who have Borderline Personality Disorder and/or high-risk behaviours (suicide, self-harm, substance use) within a community/outpatient setting. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
