About the role

Reporting to the Team Leader, Networks and Systems, the IT and Office Support Technician is responsible for managing technical assistance calls, Level 1 and 2 IT service requests and requests for information. He/she provides the technical assistance required by users for the functional and operational aspects of office automation operating systems, software suites such as Windows and Office 365, other commonly used software or specialized applications.

The IT and Office Automation Support Technician also ensures appropriate resolution by providing support for hardware resources such as telephony systems, multifunction devices (printers, network sharing and others) or other operating systems and applications in use at the Company, while respecting our service commitments.

They must also ensure that they work in conditions and a working climate that encourage collaboration and self-improvement. The ideal candidate is action-oriented and solution-focused, with good listening skills and a well-developed sense of customer service.

Responsibilities

The IT and Office Support Technician must :

  • Provide office automation support for ticketing systems, monitor and resolve first-level incidents, and maintain support relations with internal customers.
  • Perform tasks related to preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of operational and office automation systems and their peripherals.
  • Welcome new employees and train them in procedures, software and work environments.
  • Follow-up, resolve and document internal/external service calls on an ongoing basis.
  • Inform users of the status of or changes to their IT environment.
  • Install, configure and support workstations, from the operating system to the configuration of applications and software.
  • Update the documentation required for its activities.
  • Rigorously monitor hardware, warranty, license and software inventories.
  • Diagnose and repair defective equipment.
  • Be on-site at the office a minimum of 3 days a week (Mondays + 2 days to be scheduled with the Team Leader).
  • Participate in on-call rotation with other team members.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the immediate superior or related to the position.

What we are looking for
  • College diploma in computer science or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in IT support.
  • Proficiency in Windows 10, Microsoft 365 environment, Active Directory, MEM (asset).
  • Knowledge of Internet networks (Ethernet, IP, DNS, Web, Proxy, Email).
  • Distribution optimization and application configuration.
  • Safety concepts.
  • Comfortable with Windows network environment and mobile technologies.
  • Familiarity with INTEL processors, PCI buses and all other industry-standard components.
  • Familiarity with LAN and WAN connections and different types of cabling.
  • Knowledge of ITIL an asset.
  • Be able to structure work and react to unforeseen events thanks to good anticipation skills.
  • Excellent command of French and good knowledge of both spoken and written English.
  • Ability to respond to after-hours support requests on a limited basis (on-call).
