Aon is looking for Director, Product Owner

 

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions supporting the Strategy and Technology Group (STG), in Toronto, Ontario.

 

As a Product Owner, you will work with different teams to guide new Aon Life Solutions products powered by High-Performance Computing (HPC) on GPUs from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds. You will break down complex problems into steps that drive product development. You will provide valuable contributions to the Aon Life product vision and go-to-market strategy.

 

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Toronto office

What the day will look like

 

  • Work in an Agile environment and continuously review the business needs, refine priorities, outline milestones and results, and find opportunities and risks.
  • Prioritize and maintain the sprint backlog for assigned products, balancing the requirements of stakeholders to ensure tasks align with strategic goals.
  • Lead the product functional design process based on an intimate knowledge of the industry, technology and customers.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate tracking and reporting of product performance to evaluate future investment.
  • Develop, own, and implement product vision and roadmap aligned with business goals and user needs.
  • Translate product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.
  • Effectively partner with and communicate product progress, vision, features, prioritization and value to customers, including actuaries, management.
  • Understand trends in financial and insurance industries, the cloud ecosystem, the competitive market and customer requirements in depth.
  • Perform analysis and research into industry trends, products and competitors; provide recommendations for improvements and general changes to the product.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

 

  • Motivated, dedicated individual, that is not afraid to take initiative and facilitate change where necessary.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Engineering, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or Computer Science) a plus.
  • 10+ years’ experience, 5+ years as a Software Product Owner in developing, managing and launching products, libraries and technologies within the actuarial and/or financial industries.
  • Expert knowledge of Agile methodologies and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with Azure Devops and Atlassian tools, Jira, Confluence.
  • Python development experience a plus.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification a plus.
  • Experience in creating strategic product roadmap(s) from conception to launch.
  • Experience in leading the product vision, go-to-market strategy and design discussions.
  • Knowledge of actuarial and/or financial products and libraries.
  • Ability to influence multiple stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Experience with actuarial software packages such as MG-ALFA, MG-HEDGE, Prophet, AXIS, MoSeS a plus.
