Job Summary

The Team:
You will be joining a small, specialized team within the Prevention and Health Promotion Branch, focusing on injury prevention. The team consists of four employees: two dedicated to injury prevention and two to clinical prevention, with your role specifically aligned with injury prevention. The team collaborates extensively with a broad network of partners, including BC Partners, regional health authorities, and national organizations, as well as engaging with various ministries on health initiatives. This role involves working within a collaborative structure that supports and informs strategic direction on injury prevention, and contributes to the development of policies and programs.

The Role:
In this position, you will work both independently and as part of the Lifetime Prevention Schedule (LPS) team to manage research and policy development projects focused on revising existing ministry programs or legislation. Your responsibilities will include providing expert advice, identifying best practices, and developing policies related to injury prevention. You will be involved in performance measurement and monitoring, guiding clinical prevention in BC by assessing evidence-informed services for the general population. Additionally, you will support higher-level work in developing policies and initiatives, providing strategic direction, and overseeing the implementation and progress of these priorities.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in gerontology, kinesiology, health promotion, community development, health information sciences, rehabilitation sciences, public administration, social sciences, nursing, public health, epidemiology, or in a related field, AND one (1) year related experience.

Related experience must include all the following:

  • Experience in health promotion.
  • Experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis.
  • Experience managing policy projects and/or project components with minimal supervision.
  • Experience writing for an executive/senior-level leadership audience (examples include reports, policy concept papers, presentations, briefing notes).
  • Providing advice and recommendations based on research and policy analysis.
  • Experience interpreting data.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience in injury prevention.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 5 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
