Job Summary

The Team
The Sector Initiatives and Analysis team provides leadership, strategic policy advice and decision support for initiatives and issues in the contracted social services sector. This team supports the Ministry’s agenda and ensures any Ministry commitments arising from the collective bargaining process are met in a timely and effective manner.

The Role
The Financial Analyst, Sector Initiatives & Analysis will conduct analysis, reporting, and provide financial expertise, advice and recommendations on sector contracting policies and initiatives.
This position will be involved in the development of a financial performance framework, oversight activities, as well as the preparation of briefing notes, standard operating procedures, monitoring plans and management reports relating to sector contracting initiatives.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in the field of financial management, business, economics or equivalent; or formal financial training such as Level 1 or 2 of the Financial Management Certificate Program, or registration in CA/CMA/CGA, CFA, or equivalent professional designation.
  • Experience interpreting legislation and conducting analytical research to support budget/ costing model development and evaluation.
  • Experience analyzing financial and accounting statements.
  • Experience developing financial reports.


Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience implementing legislation and policy.
  • Experience related to procurement and contract management.
  • Experience with collective bargaining, labour relations and/or negotiating.
  • Experience in the Community Social Services Sector (BC or other jurisdiction).

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
