Job Summary


The Team
The Financial & Administrative Services Branch (FASB) is the central financial team within the Corporate Services Division of CITZ and is responsible for the overall financial management framework. Services include budgeting and forecasting for expenditures; recoveries; corporate monitoring and reporting; core financial operations; financial policy advice; contract policy expertise; risk & assurance; and facilities coordination. Two main goals in FASB are to be a great place to work and to be an outstanding service provider. Financial Policy & Controls is one of the teams within FASB.

The Role
As one of the Sr. Financial Policy & Controls Advisors on the Financial Policy & Controls team, you will provide financial analyst and financial policy advisory services to support a variety of financial contacts in multiple programs in the ministry. The Sr. Financial Policy & Controls Advisors work to ensure financial compliance and control issues identified are addressed, ministry policy and procedures are developed and maintained, and to achieve consistent policy applications throughout the ministry.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in related field (e.g. accounting, computing science, business administration) with a minimum four years of progressive experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered (e.g. a diploma in a related field such as business administration or commerce or computer science, and five (5) years progressive financial experience or a degree in a related field and three (4) years progressive experience
  • One or more years experience in financial applications and reporting systems.
  • One year experience supervising staff and/or leading a team.
  • One year project management type experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, MS Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) at an advanced level.
  • One year working experience with Oracle Financials.

Preference may be given to one or more of the following:

  • Completion of formal course work leading to a professional accounting designation and a minimum of three (3) years of progressive financial experience, preferred.
  • Two or more years experience in financial applications and reporting systems, preferred.
  • Working experience with PeopleSoft, query and reporting tools, preferred.
  • Experience in business analysis, process modelling, business report design and development, preferred.
