Job Summary

The Team
The Regulatory Policy Section is part of the Policy, Programs, and Legislation Branch within the Ministry Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation. The team includes policy and regulatory analysts with diverse backgrounds, such as academia, the public sector, and capital markets, which creates a supportive and lively work environment. We focus on developing policies to cut carbon emissions in the oil and gas industry and advance new technologies, offering a significant opportunity to impact climate initiatives.

The Role
As a Senior Policy Analyst on our team, you’ll be diving into some exciting work focused on carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) in B.C.-a key piece of our strategy to cut emissions. You’ll play a central role in researching, developing, and implementing policies that will shape how this emerging technology is rolled out across the province. It’s an incredible chance to be part of something new and impactful, helping to drive B.C.'s efforts toward a more sustainable, low-carbon future.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• A bachelors degree in public administration, business administration, social sciences, environmental sciences, natural resource management, climate studies, engineering or equivalent and at least 1 year of *related experience; OR
• An equivalent combination of education, training and *related experience may be considered.

*Related experience may include either one of the following:
• Experience with policy analysis and/or policy design and implementation.
• Experience in the development of legislation, and regulation.

Preference may be given to applicants with:
• A Master’s Degree in economics, public administration, social sciences, environmental sciences, natural resource management, climate studies, engineering or other related discipline.
• Experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments.
• Experience in the development of legislation, and regulation related to the natural resource sector and/or economic development.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until March 31st, 2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
