The Team
The Service Delivery Division of the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in our communities. As a large and established team, we provide essential income and disability assistance services through various channels-online, by phone, or in person. Our mission is to be reliable, responsive, and inclusive, ensuring that every British Columbian who needs support can access it easily and feel empowered to fully participate in their community.

The Role
As part of the Operations Support Branch, the Senior Business Intelligence Analyst is a key player in refining our data systems. This role involves crafting and managing our data infrastructure-everything from data warehousing to reporting and analytics. By ensuring our data tools are top-notch, the analyst helps support a team of over 1600 employees and a substantial budget, making sure our services run smoothly and effectively. It’s a role that combines technical expertise with a deep commitment to improving the way we serve our communities.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, mathematics, public or business administration, social science, or in a related field, AND two (2) years related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Two (2) years of related experience must be in each of the following:

  • Experience utilizing user experience design methods to plan and build business intelligence products, including experience in information architecture, content development, visualization and interaction design.
  • Experience working with database structure, design, data warehouse infrastructure, corporate data warehousing and related software.
  • Experience working with PBI Desktop, Service & Report Builder, querying & formula languages (e.g. DAX, Power Query & SQL and Azure Architecture.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience working in the social sector involving roles or projects that enhance the well-being of individuals and communities, especially those who are vulnerable or marginalized.
  • Experience with Integrated Case Management System (ICM).
  • One (1) year experience within the last four (4) years leading client and stakeholder engagement initiatives regarding business intelligence & analytics
  • Additional years of experience with business intelligence technologies such as Power BI (Service & Report Server), SQL & DAX.
