Job Summary

The Team
The Business Rule Engine (BRE) team is a key workstream of the Application Modernization Program (AMP), and this agile product team is responsible for designing, developing and delivering a new business rules management system. This is an established team that is comprised of a Product Manager, 2 Business Owners, a Service Designer, Full Stack Developers, Senior Scrum Master, Senior User Experience and a Business Analyst that work together to serve the social sector's current and future needs.

The Role
This position will be fully dedicated to the BRE product team and will attend and actively participate in daily stand-ups and scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives. In addition to the responsibilities outlined in the job profile, this position will:

  • Work closely with the UX Designer to conduct research to uncover end-user behaviours, needs and motivations to ensure the BRE product is responsive
  • Assist with mapping/developing business rules and processes, and recommend refinements where applicable
  • Assist in developing communications materials related to BRE product design, development and implementation
  • Take a lead role for BRE knowledge management, including maintaining the product team’s knowledge management system and working with the core team and others to develop/refine and implement procedures, training and guidance materials related to knowledge management
  • In close collaboration with subject-matter experts and developers, translate business needs and processes into technical specifications (i.e., help with creating user stories/tasks with clear acceptance criteria)


Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer science field and 2 years of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in a computer science field and 3 years related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in a computer science field and 4 years related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Related experience must include:

  • Experience providing business analysis services.


Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • Experience working on an agile product team
  • Experience with mapping business processes
  • Experience applying the BC Employment and Assistance Program eligibility rules and associated business processes
  • Experience working in a social sector environment
  • Experience developing, analyzing, interpreting and/or applying complex policy
  • Service or UX design training
  • Agile/scrum training
