Your Opportunity

BDO Digital is looking for an OpenShift Cloud Engineer to join their growing team, with the ability to work hybrid mode. The individual will own the following responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage container and orchestration technology stacks, including Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift
  • Deploy Kubernetes applications on OpenShift
  • Utilizing your in-depth knowledge of OpenShift, deploy Kubernetes applications and configure and automate OpenShift tasks.
  • Manage a team of Open Shift Operators, working alongside them as a technical lead resource who can help troubleshoot issues within the stack as needed.
  • Implement GitOps with Jenkins
  • Configure Enterprise Authentication
  • Configure Trusted TLS Certificates
  • Configure Dedicated Node Pools
  • Configure Persistent Storage
  • Manage Cluster Monitoring and Metrics
  • Provision and Inspect Cluster Logging
  • Recover Failed Worker Nodes
  • Collaborate with platform owner teams to understand new features and their implications on the organization
  • Present OpenShift services to application teams to best fit their needs
  • Act as a liaison between application teams and cloud engineers, sharing feedback on potential new features
  • Integrate OpenShift services into application architectures, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
  • Manage resources using automation and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
  • Participate in customer needs execution, including sprints, retrospectives, and other ceremonies
  • Promote and enforce best development practices within the team
  • Evangelize containerized infrastructures and immutable infrastructures within development communities
  • Ensure services have full observability and monitoring to maintain expected service levels
  • Meet availability and disaster recovery needs for cloud services
  • Participate in Day 2 operational needs such as service maintenance and incident/support response
  • Design and implement highly available, scalable, and resilient applications for both cloud-native and on-premises technology stacks
  • Develop detailed plans and accurate estimates for the design, build, implementation, and stabilization phases of projects
  • Manage all aspects of testing and verification, ensuring all tasks are performed for all interfaces

Your experience and education

Must have:

  • A passion for making developers more efficient through DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift
  • 3+ years of experience with container platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift
  • 3+ years of experience with building network infrastructure and security
  • 3+ years of experience with Python/PowerShell development and scripting
  • Experience with Jenkins, GitHub (Git Repo / Actions / Workflow), Ansible, Artifactory
  • Communication skills necessary to work on a geographically distributed team.


Nice-to-Have:

  • 3+ years of experience with Azure/GCP/AWS cloud services deployment and configuration
  • 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure Automation and Infrastructure as Code (Azure/AWS/GCP)
  • 3+ years of experience with developing Terraform modules
  • HashiCorp Terraform certification
  • Azure/AWS/GCP certification
  • Experience developing software
  • Experience working in a SAFe, Kanban, or Scrum development methodology
