Your Opportunity
BDO's National Sales Office (NSO) is seeking a Public Sector (PS) Proposal Specialist to join our PS team of dedicated proposal professionals providing pursuit management support and advisory services to the firm’s most strategic pursuits nationally. The SPC team is responsible for managing the pursuit process across the country for both our public and private sector marketplace, spanning all BDO industries and services.
The SPC, Public Sector (PS) team are dedicated proposal experts who understand the way Canadian public sector organizations buy. We provide end-to-end services in the preparation, execution and follow-up stages of the pursuit process to help BDO win in the market.
Our team is currently seeking a PS Proposal Specialist. This candidate will work out of BDO’s Ottawa or Toronto office with the option to work hybrid-ly as per BDO policy.
Key Accountabilities And Responsibilities
- Support the entire proposal process for strategic Public Sector proposal responses from proposal kick-off, project management to final submission
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders throughout the proposal process
- Providing RFx review and analysis, custom response template development, and end-to-end pursuit management, including compliance reviews and mock scoring of completed technical bid documents (training will be provided to conduct compliance and mock scoring)
- Work to ensure BDO’s responses to PS solicitations help differentiate our services, are competitive, compliant, and high scoring
- Support the orals presentation process
- Assist with debriefs for each win/loss supported
- Ensure BDO’s International Corporate Visual Identity Standards and National brand standards are adhered to.

Education And Professional Skills/Knowledge
- University Degree i.e., communications, marketing, business, or related discipline
- 3-5+ years of work experience in proposal coordination, development, and management
- Experience with understanding the PS procurement process in Canada.
- A well-organized individual who enjoys project related work, tight deadlines, problem-solving and wants to be part of a fast-paced team.
- Confidence coordinating teams and managing upwards.
- An understanding of Project Management tools and concepts that will aid the proposal process and the bidding team.
- Excellent written, interpersonal, communication and consensus management skills are vital.
- Ability to prioritize workloads and the flexibility to manage multiple tasks and tight deadlines
- Process improvement mindset that is continuously striving to evolve our ways of working and improve the end-user experience
- Experience in virtual pursuit leadership and cultivating cross-functional team collaboration
- Strong experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Additional Assets:
- Experience working in a professional services firm
- Due to the frequent and complex contact with our English-speaking partners and clients in Quebec and outside of Quebec, and the need to draft documents in English, knowledge of English is essential for this position
- Experience in managing other team members/resources
- Ability to work in an agile environment
