Your Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced IBMi Developer to join our team on a 6-month contract. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting applications running on the IBMi (AS/400) platform. You will leverage your expertise in IBMi programming (CL, Java, and LANSA) and your knowledge of DB2, MQ, SSL certificates, and web services to deliver robust, secure, and scalable solutions. Experience with ACBS is highly desirable. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration, optimal performance, and timely delivery of project milestones.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance IBMi-based applications using CL, Java, LANSA, and other relevant technologies.
  • Design and implement robust solutions using IBMi DB2 database programming (SQL, stored procedures).
  • Collaborate with business analysts and project managers to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Utilize technologies such as MQ, SSL certificates, and web services to facilitate secure and reliable data transmission.
  • Ensure seamless integration of IBMi applications with external systems and services.
  • Contribute to the design and maintenance of the overall IBMi architecture, with attention to best practices and industry standards.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and debugging on IBMi applications and environment-related issues.
  • Identify system bottlenecks and optimize performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Proactively recommend and implement improvements in processes, code quality, and system configuration.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on IBMi, sharing best practices and providing technical guidance to team members.
  • Coordinate and execute deployments of IBMi applications using automated deployment processes when applicable.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, user guides, and release notes.
  • Ensure solutions meet compliance and security requirements.
  • Utilize experience with ACBS (loan management system) and LANSA to enhance and maintain relevant systems within the IBMi ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with business users and technical teams to customize and configure ACBS and LANSA solutions as needed.
  • Conduct unit testing and collaborate with QA teams to identify and address defects.

Your experience and education

  • Strong IBMi (AS/400) environment experience in programming and troubleshooting
  • Experience with IBMi DB2 database programming (SQL, Stored Procedures)
  • Experience developing in CL and Java (development on windows with deployment to the IBMi)
  • Exposure to transmission technologies such as MQ, SSL Certificates and Web Services
  • Experience with ACBS and LANSA development.
