The Strategy and Transformation Senior Manager role is responsible for driving high priority engagements within BMO InvestorLine. This role works closely with the leadership team, and across cross-functional groups to deliver on its strategic mandate. It defines business strategies, identifies opportunities that optimize business operations, transform the client experience. Additionally, the role leads diagnostic activities, recommends target state business models and develops strategic roadmaps that deliver high impact results and sustained value.

  • Acts as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert providing strategic input into business decisions.
  • Makes recommendations to senior leaders on strategy and new initiatives based on an in-depth understanding of the business/processes/market.
  • Stays abreast of current and emerging industry and business issues and trends through benchmarking, networking, and participation in professional associations.
  • Assists in the development of the strategic planning process by partnering with, influencing, and preparing presentations for various internal (i.e., Executive Committees, BIL Board and Technology Investments) & external stakeholders as required.
  • Develops business cases by identifying needs, analyzing potential options, and assessing expected return on investment.
  • Conducts analysis required to inform strategic recommendations and considers the “big picture” when assessing whether a course of action is advisable in terms of the group and enterprise goals.
  • Conducts independent analysis including monitoring and tracking performance results to resolve strategic issues, financial impacts, etc.
  • Deciphers and gathers insights from the businesses’ Profit and Loss sheet (P&L).
  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc management reports, and dashboards.
  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to generate meaningful insights, and formulate evidence-based recommendations.
  • Leads technology and process transformation engagements of varying scope from conceptualization to implementation to maintenance and sustainment.
  • Defines frameworks for managing processes, policies or procedures, etc. in the business/group.
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate, simplify, and automate processes.
  • Recommends approaches or changes to streamline and integrate processes to improve overall efficiency.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience leading high profile strategic engagements (or workstreams on engagements) including medium to large transformation implementations
  • Experience in Consulting (internal or external) and/or Financial Services is considered an asset
  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA considered an asset
  • Lean Six Sigma/Agile certification considered an asset
  • Knowledge of business analysis, project delivery practices and standards across the project lifecycle - Expert.
  • Knowledge of business/group processes, procedures and controls - Expert.
  • Understanding of risk, regulatory and compliance requirements - Expert.
  • Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth / Expert.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills - In-depth / Expert.
  • Influence skills - In-depth / Expert.
  • Collaboration & team skills; with a focus on cross-group collaboration - In-depth / Expert.
  • Able to manage ambiguity given little to no direction.

Salary:

$92,400.00 - $171,600.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
